We Stitch these Wounds- This album is definitely better than any debut should be. The songs I do enjoy I enjoy thoroughly but the excessive amount of songs and the filler bring this down to 3rd. We don’t belong, days are numbered, done for you, nobody’s hero just feel like filler to me and do nothing.
My other gripe is that there are so many “meh” songs IMO. I like songs like these if there’s cool instrumentation or some kind of gang chant pumping you up and getting you ready for the next song, but these songs don’t do that, they just take up space. I also don’t like how there are like 6 songs that are about a minute long with just talking or setting up to a song. The special edition is 22 songs, which is just too many songs for an album. There is no doubt that songs like I am bulletproof, in the end, wretched and divine, shadows die, etc are complete bangers. Wretched and Divine - I feel like this album has much higher points/songs, but is not as consistent as vale so I put it lower. My least favorite song would have to be ballad of the lonely hearts. Have nothing really to complain about this album. With this album, they wanted to make hard rock that was radio friendly and they pulled it off really well. Some moments I felt like getting a legacy vibe from some songs, and other times I felt like I was listening to 80’s metal. One of my gripes with the self titled album was that they didn’t know what sound they wanted to do. It would be my favorite if the singles from set the world on fire didn’t push that album up to the top but this is their most consistent, coherent, and mature album to date. Vale - I actually really love this album. My least favorite songs would have to be god bless you, ritual, and smoke in mirrors (can’t really count against it though cause it’s a bonus track). For the record I do love screams (love bands like August Burns Red, parkway Drive, etc) but if were being honest Andy sucks at screaming lol. I’m not a huge fan, if at all of Andy’s screams so the way they managed to keep this album sounding similarly instrumentally to we stitch these wounds and with the same energy, but with improved vocals and less screams was really appealing to me. I also like how concise this album is with only 11 songs (12 for the bonus edition), which was one of my major gripes with wretched and divine. New religion along with the 3 singles from this album are some of my favorite bvb songs ever. Set the world on fire - I really like how this album bridges the sound they have from WSTW with the sound they would eventually develop with wretched and divine and later albums.
